Octavia CD Changer "Mechanic" Error ?

Featured Replies

Hello

My CD changer in my 02 Octavia has started playing up.

Every time I try to switch to the CD changer I get an error message just saying MECHANIC and no sound ?

Any ideas - Radio 2 is becoming a bit tiring.

anyone...anyone...bueller....bueller

Calm down, it's customary to wait more than a couple of hours for a reply you know!

Anyway usually the following works:

- Open Changer door and eject discs, then blow inside it with an air duster.

- Put a vacuum cleaner pipe at the lid area to suck up some dust, but don't put it inside the lid as this will cause damage.

- Then put the magazine in the changer with just a cleaning CD in it.

- Play the cleaning CD, then remove it from the changer and put your normal discs back in.

Should fix it.

If not then give the connector under the carpet by it a check as it may have got wet from leaking screenwash and be causing problems.
