Golf Mk 4 seats for Octavia mk 1

Featured Replies

I've read on this site that mk 4 seats will bolt straight in so went to get some at weekend. However, looking at the conectors for the side airbag, mine has 2 connectors (1 yellow with 3 wires and one black with 2 wires). On the Golf seats, it only had one yellow connector? Whats the black one for, or were the seats to early (S reg Gt TDI). Didnt buy them but have them on option as wasn't sure what to do about wires. Any ideas

Thanks

probably for the "you've not done your seatbelt up" sensor in the seat belt buckle thingy.

The older Octavias didn't have them either.

The two wire black connector is for the seat belt warning buzzer I think. If you follow the wires out of the black plug they go to the buckle receiver on the side of the drivers seat.

Also the yellow connector and pins MAY be a different type as the seats are from an early Golf. Had to replace the plugs on the early recaros I used to have in my 2001 Octavia with the later type.

Thanks for that. Do you know if the later mk 4 seats have the seatbelt warning or should I get connectors from a golf nad replace my existing ones?

My 54 plate Bora didn't have a seat belt warning light, so you may just need to swap the seatbelt stalk over from your old seat.

Not sure about the seatbelt warning but you can just swap the buckle receiver from your original seat to the Golf seats, or just do without the warning buzzer (the warning light in the instrument cluster will still work).

The airbag connector will need to be cut off the Golf seats and new pins soldered on to the wires and the new yellow connector fitted. The pins can be bought from Vehicle Wiring Products, the connectors are available from a VAG dealer.

If your not happy about replacing pins on an airbag loom you would have to get some seats from a later (2001 onward) Golf.

Agaan thanks. Never been to good with wires so I'll go for the later seat option - ebay, here I come.........

If you do need to swap the buckle thing over you will need one of those 12 pointed sockets that look like torx but are different. Can't remember the proper name though.
