You say the headrest position when the back of your head is in contact leaves a gap between your back and the rear of the seat. Trya Aldi heated seat unit or one of the

other comfort seat units on the market that would easily fill the gap.

Can't say I nor anyone else in the car has noted an issue with the head reatraints, I'm 6'0", as is my son and my better half is 5'2"....

Oh please what next!

VERY uncomfortable. There is no forward/back adjustment on the headrest.

My Octavia II has adjustable headrests. Even the back ones (not middle) adjust.

To respond to a few of the comments after I restarted this thread.

I note that a number of posts are from owners of Octavias that are not the vRS.  It seems to me that the problem with the head restraints pushing the head forward only affects shorter persons sitting in the front seats of the vRS variant of the Octavia.

gregoir - as your car is not a vRS the seats are different.

The head restraints in my MkII Fl vRS have no forward/back adjustment, only up/down.

chr1staylor - nice bit of lateral thinking, suggesting fitting rear head restraint to front seat.  Unfortunately the rear head restraints project further forward of the mounting rods than the front head restraints and so exasperate the problem.

Davidsr20 - "Oh please what next!"   -   You will have to explain your comment.

brownfox  -  I was referring to the illustration on page 142 of the owners manual, not to the situation with my car.

bluey2  -  at least one other person also has the problem.

chr1staylor  -  thanks for letting me know that the earlier versions of the vRS has head restraints with for/aft adjustment; I will investigate.

To reiterate the problem - it only applies to shorter persons who wish to have the head restraint correctly adjusted (i.e., fully down) when travelling in the front seat of a MkII FL Octavia vRS.  I personally have no problem with the head restraint.  Comments regarding other models are no assistance in solving the problem. So far the only solution found is to turn around the head restraint so the back face is to the front but this looks wrong and means the head restraint cannot just be raised in order to be correctly adjusted for taller persons.

I bought my Octavia second hand so didn't get to sit in the front seat while driving.  Now I'm driving I find the headrest is awful.  Unless I slump forwards at the shoulders it touches the back of my head.  Changing the incline of the seat doesn't help - it's the relationship between the angle of the seat and the headrest that's the problem. Like nikki.milligan the headrest is touching the back of my head when it shouldn't do.  I'm 5'8 so middling height.  I also tend to have a good posture, so maybe Skoda doesn't want drivers with a good posture.  What I need is a solution as I love everything else about my car.

Bend the rods.

I am same height as you and agree about the bad location for correct posture.

They take a lot of bending though, I had to do some for a neighbours sons car, cant recall what it was but it was a recognised fix to a known problem, I used my 12 tonne hydraulic press & they took quite a bit of persuading.

@YellowDog

Swap the drivers one with the passenger one, and fit them back to front.............

I do wonder if it is to do with a persons build..........ie, if you have a big back, this will naturally sit you further forward in the seat, meaning that your head is also naturally further forward so the head restraint won't bother a person
