Hi peeps,

We are off to France for a couple of weeks in August and thought about getting a roof box for the Octy - does anyone knwo what I need to fit one of these or point me in the right direction? Do I just need roof rails then some sort of mounting kit? never fitted one before so no idea whats needed

You can get a set of roof bars from your main dealer for a reasonable price, or you've got the Thule opition. Then the roof box clamps onto these, I would check Halfords as there are some good deals to be had or ebay, a mate got a used one for 50 sheets (r.r.p 249.99) and it was like new.

I would also say look at roofbox.co.uk. They have a great range of products, good prices and great service.

As far as I'm aware the factory fit roof bars are actually Altera which can be bought from Roofbox cheaper than they can be from the stealers.

Thule while good are overpriced. Altera are the puppies - I use em with Barracuda bike carriers and they are brilliant. Roofbox also have excellent customer service - I bought a pair of almost new bars which arrived with a slightly bent foot - enough to prevent me from fitting them. They sent me a brand new foot out ASAP and told me to keep the original for spares!

Nice company to deal with and I'm all for supporting the independants of this world.
