Brake Fluid Change

Featured Replies

New to this forum and have recently taken ownerships of an 08 plate Octavia 1.9 Tdi Ambiente. As it's 2 years old in May I need to think about getting the brake fluid changed. It is on a variable service schedule so realise this is a separate thing.

Before I shop about, what is the average cost that Skoda dealers charge compared to say an independant approved Skoda garage.

I live in North Yorkshire.

Cheers for any help!

I have just been through this exercise for my Octavia Mk I. One local Skoda dealer quoted £47. Jabbasport's website quotes £42, TTS Roadsport's website (an independent) quotes £49.99 for standard fluid or £70.50 for uprated performance brake fluid, and a local independent garage quoted me £20.

I paid 49 together with a first variable service (154 pounds) at a Skoda/SEAT dealer in Salford.

You should also be remainded by a dealer to change the polen filter at two years. I was quoted 34 but it is as easy as changing a filter on a Dyson and available at Euro Car Parts for a fiver.

I dont know where in North Yorkshire you are but Benfield Skoda in Harrogate are very good and open to a haggle on the price.

I can also recommend Brookroyd in Hampsthwaite as an Independent Skoda specialist, they are not super cheap but they know their Skodas inside and out.

My Octy 2 had a full variable service last August with Faintree Garage, Bridgenorth. As part of that service I also had the brake fluid changed (as the car was almost 2 years old) for which they charged £34.
