Help please I have a skoda rs engine AUM to begin with the speedo was erratic and would show random readings even when the car was standing still. Removed the dash insert to check terminals now car does not start, the immo light is flashing tried with the spare key no joy, also noticed windows not working side mirrors not working checked fuses seem ok car will fire but not start did a scan shows loads of faults which do not get erased. Any ideas anybody please?

What are the fault codes?

Should it not have an AUQ engine if it's a VRS? Have you only just bought this car if so has it had an engine transplant as the AUM is the 150bhp version

Check the battery voltage, and suspect the battery itself is fine, but the sprague clutch in the alternator drive pulley has failed. It's a separate part, so ne need to replace the alternator.

Aha  it sounds to me like an ECU fault or one of the fuses for the dashboard intrumentation and/or immobiliser, although you said you've already checked those. If you can get the fault codes up here or ask in the Diagnostics and Fault codes section of these forums that should give something to be going on

thanks for all the replies fuses were all checked individually seems to me like some major power interruption or comfort relay can the comfort relay immobilise the car? also fault codes were a lot key signal weak immo coil etc etc whole lot. OTW a trip to the stealers I guess
