vRS front fog light

Featured Replies

Found top to bottom crack in front off side Fog Light lense this afternoon while washing car.

Any VRS owner had to replace a front fog light yet and how much did it cost ?

I take it it'll not be a warranty job, but is it a DIY job or a Skoda job ?

Deffo not warranty, accident damage.

IIRC Rooboy changed his a little while ago, i'm sure he will spot this and he will be able to tell you.

Easily a DIY job I think, couple of screws usually, but tbh ive not done one yet.

Mine too has got cracked. It's

I cracked one on my last car, reno wanted 60 quid for a new one. I put just black plastic tape on them to start of with, rallyslag look!

Looked a bit pants so then I covered the the light with sticky back plastic (blue peter style!) didnt notice the difference.

UPDATE :

Picked up replacement fog light this morning and with inputs from Rooboy, have managed to replace my old cracked fog light for a brand new shiney one, but its a HELL of a job....

1) Pull off the fog light grill surround.... easy bit.

2) With an allen key style Torx T20 bit, loosen the screws at the top of the fog light, a couple of turns is all thats needed because the whole fog light assmbly then slides backwards and off. The screws come into the fog light assembly from the top so it is VERY tight & fiddly to reach and undo with the bumper on.

3) Watch out for the wee metal clip on the bottom of the light assembly as it would be easily lost in the bottom bumper cavity and then disconnect the power wiring harness.

4) Refit is reverse, but found it easier to have both screws and washers in place prior to re-assembly and using sticky tape (or you could possibly use a spot of super glue) hold the washer up towards the head of the screw and slide the whole assembly on to the locating lugs. What I did was tighten the left hand screw/washer as far a possible as there is very little room at that side to tighten it down once in place. The right hand side is less of an issue, but there is not a lot of room.

The job would be a lot simpler if you were to take the bumper off, but I assume that would be a another job and a half....

All in all it took nearly 1hr to complete and yes I have the scars to prove it.

Monty...

Got off lightly by the sounds of it - I 'discovered' a smashed front fog on my Galant by slicing through my finger almost to the bone  while washing the car.

After a trip to casualty Mitsubishi had the cheek to quote

I need a nearside fog light for our Fabia 2.0. (Skospares have none or none that they're willing to sell)

Told you it was a pain in the backside. :D

Noticed mine is cracke don Saturday when cleaning it.

Think it happened following C.J. on the way to Anglesey down a road that appeared to have been gritted with pebble dash.
