Skoda Octavia 1.9TDI

Featured Replies

Skoda Octavia engine code ASV diesel on start up from cold the car continues to smoke and runs on three cylinders. The car has had new turbo and four re-conditioned injectors. On further checks the ECU is saying the car timing is out 10 degrees. Timing has been checked several times and is fine. Any help would be grateful

Was the timing checked in basic mode and when fully warm?

If not, then it is possible that the timing is severely retarded and can't be 'pulled in' when cold.

Does the smoking stop and the 4th cylinder kick in after no more than 30 seconds? If so, one of the glowplugs is not working. If it continues to smoke longer then double double check the timing. I had mine reset to fix a similar cold start problem.
