Cam cover removal 2.5 tdi

Featured Replies

Hi there.

Has anyone here attempted removing the cam covers on a 2.5 tdi?

Are there any complications in getting the injectors pipes off and on, any special tools, etc? Do the pipes need to be renewed or c an they be re-used?

As my car is on long life service, and I suspect that previously (on 3 occasions) it was serviced at a "local garage" and the oil only cost £13, I suspect that maybe they used some cheap oil, and running cheap oil in the engine over 20 k mile intervals is pretty horrid. Bad enough on proper 507 spec oil anyway. Dreading the thought of worn cams. My car has a bit of a cold start issue, which I posted about already, and will have it checked over by a Bosch agent, but some guys elsewhere have had similar problems like me and it ended up being a cam follower issue.
