Delphi brake discs / pads on vRS TFSI?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I can get ahold of the brakes pads and discs (front and rear) for my VRS for £150 all in. The discs are starting to look a bit low, and I might as well do the pads at the same time as they dont cost a great deal. Has anyone tried the delphi pads and discs with this car? They appear to be getting good feedback from other forums, but naturally I'd want to know how they respond in this particular car.

discs are discs really, if they warp then you just ned to replace them. Pad wise though, i woul=d only go with brands that i know of personally. never heard of delphi pads or discs TBH

Delphi are an American company - been going about 100 years!

About 10 years ago they took over AP Lockheed (based at Leamington Spa). So Delphi brakes are really Lockheed - which I think almost everybody will have heard of.

Delphi brakes are OE on quite a few cars and no doubt will perform close to OE spec on the Skoda. They are a sound choice.

Also check out the price of other good brands like Pagid or ATE (from EuroCarParts). Bear in mind its often cheaper to buy from ECP online with free delivery rather than go to the branch!

Might be a good idea to change your brake fluid at the same time, unless its been done in the past year.

You will need a wind-back tool to do the rear pads.

That's pretty much what I read online myself, with many happy owners across the board with Delphi parts. Just checked ECP, and they total upto £179.42 delivered for Pagid supplied items, which isnt bad.

Pagid +1

Excellent pads.

Yes, Pagid are fine. Really there are only a small number of friction material manufacturers in Europe now. They all give pretty similar performance. Textar, Pagid, Mintex, Don, Cobreq and Cosid are all effectively the same company (TMD Friction, Germany), Continental Corp. (German) owns ATE brakes and Ferodo is part of Federal-Mogul (US), as is Abex brakes. Delphi is effectively Lockheed, as mentioned above.

Eu Reg.-90 means that any parts they supply should perform within +/-15% of OE parts. In reality, most will conform much more closely than that. Really any of these brands should be entirely satisfactory, they are all long-established with excellent reputations, so just buy on price and availability.
