My Octavia has an intermittent electronic fault. Ocassionally all four doors will lock themselves, even when the key is in the ignition.

Incidentally, this is NOT just the built-in feature which locks the doors if you don't open them within a short time of remotely unlocking the car.

Does anyone have any experience of this, or have any suggestions of what I can do? Sooner or later I'm going to get locked out of my car (possibly with my young kids inside!!)

The answer to most of these problems usually lies in the wiring connectors in the driver's door.

My bet is the 4th microswitch in the door lock. If the headlight warning alarm does not come on when you leave your lights on, and exit the car, then I'm pretty sure thats your problem.

Choices would be new door lock mechanism, or search on here for DIY guides on how to replace the microswitch.

You are right. The headlight warning alarm does not sound either - I hadn't realised this was a related issue. Thanks very much!! I shall search the forum for how to change this microswitch. Of course if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful...
