water ingress again on 2006 elegance

Featured Replies

I have water ingress again after thinking I had cured it. I think it has been repaired before when it went in to have a faulty starter motor sorted (under warranty) in March 09, & could they also investigate the reason for windows" misting up" & loss of various internal electrics. Kept the car for a couple of days all sorted new SM & replaced faulty pollen filteremoticon-0124-worried.gif no mention of a blocked drain. Begining of May we found carpets soaking & found out, from this site, about the problem caused by bad design of course local dealer new nothing about this. Anyway I decided to do the repair myself & straight away discovered that someone had been in before me as the ventillation grill was cracked. Now I have just started to put it back together again after drying out & water test but after this recent rain its reappeared so I am back to square 1 How many drain holes are there I could only see 1 -- under the battery & what mod can u do to stop this happening again?

Hi I have looked at all the topics, several times, but cannot find an answer to 1 question which is about the number of drainholes & is the "cure" just the pollen filter seal, does the water get into the drivers side via the ducting? which I assume it does, just those sort of things. Someone mentioned about removing the servo unit not sure if this was a mod. I have had the pollen filter out & re-sealed it removed the battery & cleared the drain hole. Thats about 3wks ago. I tried a water test before starting to put it back together & everything seemed o.k. but now the drivers side (not refitted the seat yet) which appeared to be dry now has a smear of condensation over the floor & the carpet does feel damp in 1 particular area which isn,t anywhere near the heater vent. I am waiting for it to start raining again to see if water is getting in againemoticon-0106-crying.gif

If the car has a sunroof, check that the sunroof drains are clear, if not water runs into the car. There are two drain holes in the plenum chamber. The servo check is to check for corrosion on the steel servo can.

Check the bonntet release cable gromit is in place correctly.
