New VRS - New Rattle/Vibration

Featured Replies

Picked up my brand new Octavia Vrs on Friday, and i absolutely love it! It puts a smile on my face every time i see it and every time i drive it.

However, yesterday on its first commute to work along a country road i noticed that a slight rattle/vibration was coming from the top of the dash, between the windscreen and the window. It sounds like a set of keys slightly vibrating (i checked the keys, its not them) On the way home from work this did not happen using the same road. Then again today i almost got to the end of the country road and it started again, only this time louder. I havent a clue what it is, but it is slightly disappointing for a 3 day old car that has done 180 miles

Nevertheless, love the car and im so glad i made the right choice!

Just a thought, was your Aircon on? Wondering if its a fan related noise?

Picked up mine on sunday and noticed a rattle as i left work yesterday!!

Thankfully turned out to be my sunglasses (too big to fit the sunglass holder!!) sitting in the drinks holder bit!!

Just been on a 60 mile round motorway trip and the noise is back even on relatively smooth roads. It sounds like a prestud vibrating because it hasnt been closed properly if that makes sense and appears to be coming from the vent area on top of the dashboard. Tried air con on and off and its still the same. Think ill give the dealers a quick call when i get back from my hols next week

Bit of an update on this. Took it to the dealers on Monday, and after a bit of a drive (over fiarly smooth roads it has to be said) they dont know where its coming from and tried to fob me off by saying it could take them ages to find it. I agreed to go back after 1k miles (just the 400 to go then) and see if it is any worse. When i got home i did some tapping and poking and found that if i press on the top of the dash either on the hood of the instruments or near the metal vent next to the window i can make a similar noise. kind of a cross between a rattle and 2 pieces of polystyrene rubbing together. I think ill be taking it back sooner than 1000 miles because its driving me barmy and detracting from the joy of the car. It seems to be worse on some days and then not as bad others so maybe a heat related thing?

Im guessing no one elses makes a noise when you push on the of the dash? it certainly doesn't do it on the passenger side

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

That's pretty outragous for them as it " takes ages" to fix, that's their job! If your gearbox or engine blew, would thay say that? I'd take it straight back, and insist they fix it ASAP or you want another car. Mine is quite as a mouse and if its only a week or so old, it should be perfect as that's what you paid for!

Unless of course you did'nt take it to the supplying dealer then that's another story!!!

It was the dealers who i bought it from. I think ill take it there tomorrow on my lunch and tell them it needs fixing. My old fiat that i traded in didnt make this much noise

They should book it in and sort it quickly and cheerfully, its the sort of thing lots of people get so it should'nt be a problem.
