Bought new octavia.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

i have just bought another octavia this is my third one.It has full service history and has had longlife oil.In the last service the garage used 5w40 oil not pd just 5w40.

The car has covered 13000 since but it runs fine, iam going to get the correct oil put in i.e longlife. Can i use 5w40 pd oil instead.and do you think the normal 540 will have damaged anything. Thanks

PD diesels deserve the best oil . Any oil that meets VAG long life spec 507 will be fine. ( you will get lots of replies that lower spec oils are fine but this is my opinion for what it's worth ).

ASDA sell Mobil #1 "esp" 5W-30 oil that meets VAG spec 507 for only £32 for 5 litre containers . Thus one container will be enough for one oil change with about 1/2 litre left over for top-up.
