What bulbs does a Superb with xenon use?

Featured Replies

Hi

Because i have just ordered some new D2C(Same as D2S) Xenon bulbs(From dealextreme.com, they cost about 10 punds for a pair), i wanna change the other bulbs to a similiar color, but some places they say the car uses H1 and other say its H3.

And what other bulbs does the car use, fx for interior light, reading light, number plate light and so on.

And does anyone know when/how the headlight washers should be activated?

Best Regards

Morten

Morten, I don't think those are the right bulbs, especially @ £10 for two of them, the normal headlight is a H7, these would be that sort of price, but a Xenon is normally around £45 each if you look in the right places.

Installing then needs the unit to be realigned as well, the bulb has to start life at a starting point, or so I'm led to believe, H7 can just be installed as per normal.

This is a good place to find out what you need:

The only thing this doesn't show is the seperate Main Beam bulb which is H3 IIRC...........

D2C bulbs are a cheaper Japan marketed and designed product so the price may well be accurate, they can be used for both D2S and D2R lamps..........

The headlight washer only gets activated if you use the windscreen washers when the headlights are on, and you hold the windscreen washers on for more than "maybe" 3 seconds. This will start the headlight washing sequence which will run once and it will first force the washer pillars up using the high pressure washer fluid, then when they are fully extended the pressurised washer fluid will escape out through now open exposed jets and the washer pillars will collapse back down until they are actioned again by a 3 second or more use of the windscreen washers.

Your sig says the following:

I am a VW/Audi/Skoda Mechanic - Just ask.

Have you not worked on a Superb before? Does your motor have Xenon's, if so the Head Lamp Washer's will be attached to the Head Lamp behind the chrome cap.........

Yeah its true i am a VW, Audi and Skoda Mechanics, but i have only seen Superb in the workshop once, and it was just a intercooler hose that needed to be changed because the customer had a accident with a screwdriver and punched a hole thru it.

And yes my Superb has xenons, just got my new bulbs today, they look 100% like General Electrics bulbs.
