Badge dilema.

Featured Replies

As the case with a few older Skoda's I've seen the badge on the back has faded almost to complete black. Yuck! Any ideas on a suitable way of removal? I've seen shiny new badge kits with adhesive strips on ebay. Also, the engine cover badge has broken because all of 3 clips out of the 4 have broken. Slightly annoying. Does anybody know if most Skoda's from 2001 fit the same engine cover badges? Again, I have seen one on ebay but its from a 1.2 16v, however mine is a 1.4 mpi.

For removal on a Octy II best approach is to run a bit of fishing line behind the badge to release the adhesive, for the front badge the grill does need to be removed, I can't imagine the Furby being much different.

Wicked nice one, that link was a dud one. Never mind, I will use the fishing wire method as the rear one only needs replacing. Did you say you sell the badges? Thanks pagey1255

heat the badge with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive....gently prise it off with sumthing plastic or thick fishing line...remove residue with petrol/lighter fuel..

Another set of brilliant tips, well done guys. I feel overwelmed with joy from this forum. Thank you warwick hunt, big props. I managed to get my rear washer problem sorted today too. Chuffed.

One suggestion I've seen is to pour hot (not boiling) water over the badge in order to soften the adhesive. Engine cover badge you say? I say take the whole engine cover off and stick it in the bin ~(remembering to remove and use the spare oil cap underneath first).

lmao "throw it in the bin". I know what the heck are they for right? Maybe I shouldnt be so bothered bout it. The rear exterior badge does though. Any tips on where to purchase a genuine item or good replica/pattern copy thingy.

They do contain minor sound deadining and make the engine bay look nicer :giggle:

but other then that, not a lot! :)

CHUCK IT!

Go to the Steeler for the badge, the engine cover badge priced up today......... £7.......... cant see the tailgate badge being any more.

Wow! Those grey/black badges are wicked. They'd look great against my silver metallic. Much nicer than the originals. Have you got a paypal account i can put money in for them? thanks again pagey1255

Just removed my "Fabia" badge from the rear. Took about 25 mins from removing the badge (came off quite easily - didn't even need to heat it just prised off with a wallet card) to polishing and waxing the de-badged area. (removing all the gunk first ofc ;) )

Well chuffed with how it looks now :)
