I need to get some roof bars for my Octy. Basically i am after the width of the Skoda Bars, ie the useable width of them... I have the VW ones on the Bora and they angle inwards from the fixings so are narrower than the likes of the Thule bars.

If I have the measurements i can decide which ones to go for. I need to carry a half width box and 2 bike carriers. The Bora ones are just too narrow for this.

The Thule ones are 127cm which will be plenty but would prefer OEM! Skoda dealer couldn't give me the measurements of it as they hadn't got any in stock.

Excellent quality and Roofbox are great to deal with. I purchased some second user ones from them and they arrived with a slightly bent foot. Roofbox sent me a brand new foot and told me to keep the old one as a spare! Can't fault that!

I've a set of Prorack Whispbars arriving tomorrow for my FL VRS Hatch. I'll post pictures and a mini-review tomorrow evening in case your interested.

I have OEM bars and the usable width on the narrowest (rear one) is a smidge over 33inches (855mm).

Incidentally the front roof bar is longer with 34 usable inches (although how you would use that extra inch I'm not entirely certain!)

blimey - thats narrower than the VW ones i had!

I measured on the underside from where the angled black plastic part of the feet ends.

Full width measured on the top is 37 and 38 inches respectively.

Meh. Whispbars arrived but don't fit the 2010 Octavia Hatch. Spoke directly with Prorack who confirmed that it wouldn't fit 2010 Octavias and the required part will not be on sale until early next year. It's a shame as the Whispbars are beautifully engineered pieces of kit.
