Columbus MDI Retrofit Superb II

Featured Replies

Hi All

This has probably been asked a milion times, so apologies if there is some duplication.

I am about to take delivery soon of a Superb Elegance Est with the Columbus head unit. Due to cost constraints when I ordered through my employer, I was not able to get the MDI interface included as a factory fit. I would however like to have the facility to control my iPod from the Columbus.

My local dealer says there is no kit of parts available to do this, but being synical, I don't believe them.

Can someone please advise if this is possible, what parts I need and where to get them, and also if fitting is straight forward.

Many thanks

Rich

Find a dealer who knows what they are talking about. You can buy the kit from dealers and other in-line retailers, Ebay etc. Fitting is easy enough, My Octy took about an hour.

Is it plug and play or do I need to upgrade Firmware?

It is not plug and play - but not that hard if you know how - and you shouldn't need firmware upgrades.

You can buy a plug and play harness, if you dont then you still get full instructions with the kit on how to wire it correctly.
