VRS CR Injectors noisy all of a sudden at certain revs

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Noticed this morning, after a rather rough idle when I first fired the car up that at a certain rev range when setting off in first the injectors were a tad clattery. The car for a moment sounded like my old PD 130 and like the wifes old HDi 90, till the revs got a bit higher and it went smooth again. Got to my destination and the car was fine.

Then this evening when leaving work, a similar thing although not straight away, when setting off after being in traffic for a bit, hit that certain rev point (normally just as the boost is coming in) and the clatter was there again. Rev it out a few times and it was gone again.

It seems to be only when setting off in first and riding the clutch a little to get moving when it does it, that distinctive diesel clatter that the CR normally doesn't have. Really odd.

Anyone else noticed this or have any ideas as to what it might be?

Car only has 15k on it.

Thanks in advance,

Chri.

My bro was talkiong about this kind of thing with his citroen C4 - that was down to faulty injector seal - blowing.

Have you checked the oil??

Not sure it's oil related as it depends on how much throttle I give it. Apply more, the noise increases (until the revs rise enough). Ease off, it goes away. Then after a bit of running it's all fine. Really weird.

The Fabia used to do it when it was cold and that was injector clatter - all went quiet when it warmed up.

Will go and check the oil now just to be sure but it's not like tappet/ cam / mechanical top end noise as I've had that before on old BMW's and is was much more specific and distinctive.

Hi all,

Had the car do it to me again this evening. Started it up, all was well - got maybe 1/2 a mile down the road and I once again had an old school diesel under the bonnet, and the idle speed was a little too low when I came to a halt.

Even once the engine temp had reached normal (according to the needle) it was still doing it....if you revved it the clatter came and went in waves. Also under power the car seemed a little jumpy as the turbo came in not its usual smooth self.

Got to my destination and left the car off for about an hour - came back and it was fine, even though it had cooled off a bit. Drove home and it was fine all the way.

I properly confused. Might be time for a diag, if it tells me anything. :(

Oil level is fine as are all other fluids. Anyone any ideas?
