Been a lurker on here for a while and finally got enough money saved to purchase a good octavia vrs. But the question is what should i expect to pay, i'm going to view a 55 plate vrs in silver, 56,000 miles, fssh, 12 month warranty, 12months MOT, completely standard in silver. Condition is described as superb, its up for 5,989 quid. So whats it worth?

Also is there anything else i should look out for when viewing besides those things listed in the extremely helpful buyers guide?

If i was paying that much i'd get a full AA or RAC inspection carried out just incase.

Thats a lot of money for a mk1 vrs,for 2k more you can buy a nice mk2 vrs,if you do buy it id make sure it has a cambelt & water pump replacement as part of the sale.For that money it needs to be perfect really,if you like it & are happy spending that kind of money on it buy it,you wont look back,they are nice cars.

Do you intend to modify? if yes then maybe look for an older one, they are about and some with similar or lower miles but for a lot less money, which you can then use for mods (sensible ones only though please )

That's a grand more than what I paid for mine 3 years ago although mine was a 52 plate with over 80k on the clock.

It does sound like a good car, only so dear because of it's age (I think 55 was the last of the Mk1 VRS's) and very low mileage. I expect it's from a Skoda dealership at that price? As the others have said make sure it's perfect for that price, if you're not fussy about the age or mileage you could easily get one a couple of grand cheaper. Cambelt and water pump should have been done late last year as it's every 4 years or 60,000 miles.

At least with a 55 plate with that kind of mileage you are probably not going to have to worry much about wear and tear on things like the suspension and clutch, and if it's not been modified at all I don't expect there will be any issues with boost leaks, hesitation, fault codes etc.

Thanks for the replies, decided against the 55 plate as the condition wasnt brilliant and have found a mint condition 03 plate in black which will be being picked up later this week! :D :D
