I have a 2010 FL VRS estate which I bought from new. It has recently suffered some very minor kerb damage on the front nearside alloy. This is very minor damage to the outer rim.

It seems this slight impact has caused a chunck of the surface of the alloy to come away. It is about 2.5cm in diameter and roughly round in shape, a bit bigger than a ten pence piece.

What concerns me is that even to the naked eye there are at least five or six layers of paint clearly visible between the surface of the wheel and what I would refer to as the untreated wheel. The damage is similar looking to the cut surface of a tree where each concentric circle is visible. The missing chunck was obviously made up of paint alone.

Does Skoda seriously apply 5 or 6 layers of paint to each alloy it fits or is there some other more sinister explanation?. Can anyone confirm if this might be the case or come up with any ideas?.

Thanks for previous responses but hope pics might help.

hello again go to the dealer and complain that is not right there should be no more than 3 layers of paint that wheel looks like its been sprayed several times i would press to get that sorted under warranty its definetly poor workmanship

Its normal.

I kerbed mine and it broke away in a similar pattern exposing several layers like this

The repairer sanded it out and resprayed the wheel. Good as new now

I noticed a small chip on my wheel near one of the the wheel bolt caps. It too looks like a deep multi layer wound inflicted I guess by a stone. I have put a blob of laquer over it for now.

Two of mine on my 09 reg vRS are exactly the same , had to get them re-furbished at £50 a wheel , like new now tho

Guys,

Managed to kerb mine pretty bad on the first weekend of owning the new car. Anyway, the wife has offered to treat me to a refurb. I was wondering where you had got the job the done and the cost.

Not ooking to pay more than £50.

Thanks
