Columbus query (volume related)

Featured Replies

I've had my Octy VRS with Columbus (bought from Atty) for about a month now and loving it. I'm still trying to get to grips with the various settings/options in the Columbus, and the manual I have doesn't sem to explain it very well.

I want the radio/media etc (whatevers playing at the time) to drop in volume when a sat nav announcement is made, but I'm not sure what setting needs to be adjusted to achieve this.

Within Tone/Volume/Navigation I already have the 'Audio volume reduction' setting on 'High', but it doesn't reduce it by much (I also have the PDC volume reduction setting on 'high', and it almost mutes the audio).

I suspect I'm maybe missing something simple somewhere within the menu system - can someone point me in the right direction ;) .

The easiest way is when she's speaking, turn the volume up - you gotta be quick & do it whilst she's mid sentence... that's it. Done!

Hi Simbo,

Cheers for the response, but I think you maybe misunderstood my question (or perhaps I didn't explain it very well). I realise that turning the volume dial while she's speaking adjusts the voice volume, but what I want to adjust is the degree that that the music quietens by while the voice is talking.

Example :- Say I have the music playing at a volume of 10, when I engage reverse gear the parking sensors are enabled and the music is quietened down to a volume of 2 (or thereby - the numbers are just indicative). This is ideal as I can hear the parking sensors quite clearly.

Again, assuming I have the music playing at 10, when I use navigation the music just quietens to maybe just 8, so it is sometimes difficult to hear the voice clearly over the music. I want to know what setting I need to adjust to get the music volume to drop further. As I said earlier, I already have the 'Audio Volume Reduction' setting on high.

I hope the above clarifies my query.

I've had Atty's old car since 10th August - he advertised it on here about 6/7 weeks ago. As you probably know it is loaded with quality extras and does, as you say, look great in the silver. I'm really pleased with it and it certainly turns a few heads when I drive it around town :)
