Accessing dash fusebox- Awkward to say the least!

This week I had to access the dash fusebox after the lighter socket failed to work.

The fusebox cover is a pig to remove, needing either a flat bladed screwdriver or the key to firmly prise the cover from the push-fit plaugs. The fusebox cover is situated on the end panel of the dashboard (drivers door needs to be open). Helpfully, Skoda provide a plastic fuse tweezer, which I discovered only after struggling to remove the blown fuse with my fingers!.

Replacing the fusebox cover is best done in daylight as it involves lining up push fit plugs and manual repositioning of the inner door seal after the fusebox cover is in place. It's a shame a simpler flap with latch couldn't have been designed instead of the current awkward arrangement.

From what you describe (can't say I noticed it on the demo I drove) it's exactly thesame as the MKI Superb, MKI Octavia and MK5 Golf, they are easy to remove (with the correct tool - which should be inside the spare wheel) when you know how, the benefit of this system is they don't rattle.
