Thinking about an Elroq, but...
Thanks for that information, most helpful. I'm going to have to wait a while if I want to try and tap into the mains as the ground is like concrete and impossible to dig with shovels or spades, so once we have a decent amount of rain that softens the ground I might be able to get our gardening team to dig a trench across the lawn about 12" deep so I can install a cable conduit (usually a heavy duty water pipe) and bury it in the trench up to a base of a redundant lamp post base, reuse that for a charger on a post.

Just got to deal with the Grade I I* listing issue though

Thinking about an Elroq, but...
Hi. I'm finding that if I want a new RS it's £40k + any options which puts in well inside the luxury car threshold so instead of paying ~£200 annually for "road tax" it would be a whopping £625! Also I'm thinking that whilst the RS is a lovely car to own & drive, it's now gone over the 3 year barrier and so is going to start needing much more expensive maintenance & services. I also have leg & knee issues so it's a comfort issue too. I don't need a large car like the Octavia anymore as I have no family Ive not tried any EV, but there's no Skoda that will give me the HP & zip of an RS other than an EV, I've had a look at an Elroq and whilst I'm not a fan of the driver cockpit, but I can live with it.

I'm investigating that but I think that the electrical board & input is at its limit.

Thinking about an Elroq, but...
Hi Folks Got a MY23 Octavia RS, which I'm thinking about a change to an Elroq, but am concerned about range in the winter, charging times etc. Is it worth specifying a heat pump if possible? Would it be worth having a monthly charging account to get reduced charging fees? Because home charging may not be possible as I have a grade II* listed building as a house, so attachment of the charger is very unlikely to be allowed, so public charging will be the norm. What packs would you recommend adding to the car, I'm considering a 85 model for the range, possibly a Sportline or Edition Thanks

Mk 4 RS, Drivers Door Seal
Hi folks. Has anyone had their drivers door seal perish and split? If so how much did it cost to replace and is it a DIY job or best left to a garage? TIA.

Gap between instrument panel and windscreen
Mines like it too, you can buy a rubber strip that fits in the gap to stop it. Google "Dashboard sealing strip" and you'll find them, you can get them very cheaply from the likes of Temu & AliExpress (~£2-4) rather than the £10+ on Amazon.

Headlights
No, it's best to take it to a garage and get it set accurately, so you don't keep getting flashed or MOT failure later on.

Coming back to an Octavia vRS?
You might be in for a nasty surprise when your VED is due.
-
Coming back to an Octavia vRS?
Yes that's the estimated annual increase. So it gets very expensive very quickly. At the rate that the wicked witch has stated, it will soon make owning & driving a car a luxury that many can't afford.

Coming back to an Octavia vRS?
I don't really want to put a fly in the ointment, but just be aware that if you buy a new vRS you will be paying £625 pa VED for the next few years as a new vRS has a PIID value of over £40000. And that will be £625 & increase by an estimated £20 pa each year from years 2-6. If you don't want that and consider an EV in lieu, then be aware that this scumbag government will charge you £200 pa VED, plus the £20 increase from years 2-6, plus another ~£300 pa EV mileage tax for 10k miles.

This one is different. It doesn't go away.

It puts a small dialog box saying "Changing User Settings" every few starts. All my radio station presets go & colour setting vanish. It's a RPITA.

So did I, at least twice, my car also keeps changing the colour settings of everything. I love the car, but I'm getting sick & tired of the software glitches, so may look elsewhere in the near future.
