Interior light removal / fix

Featured Replies

1st post, hello all.

I have a Octavia 1.9 2005 estate

The sliding switch has fallen off the front interior ceiling light. It doesn’t look broken but any ideas as to removal / fix without snapping something?

Thanks

Remove the plastic light cover by carefully prising it out from one edge (forget which one) and there are two screws behind there.

Undo the two screws and you can then remove the unit.

Paddles,

Be careful when you undo the screws and pull the light unit out - the sliding switch is push-fitted through a brass plate and a spring on the 'top-side' of the light. The switch you describe as fallen off is fixed in position by that plate and spring - so they will now be loose on the topside of the light.

Hope that helps!

Yes, when the switch fell apart on mine the brass plate and the spring rattled about on top of the light and presumably shorted something out, as when I got it all back together not only did it not work but none of the other interior lights worked either! Replaced the fuse and they all began working again as normal.
