MY11 Octavia Scout LED DRLs

Featured Replies

New to Briskskoda and have caught up with as many old posts as I could find regarding this topic but have a couple of oustanding questions.

Am likely to order a MY11 Scout this week with anticipated delivery Jan-Mar 2011.

Intend to spec Xenon with AFSII and LED DRLs.

Dealer told me today that although LEDs will be fitted they will not operate as DRLs when car arrives pending a yet to be released "software update". Confirmed this myself with Skoda directly.

Has anyone taken delivery of a MY11 Scout with LED DRLs and did they operate as DRLs from the word go? If so, what happens to them when headlights are switched on? I appreciate I am forfeiting foglights with this combination.

Thanks for any help.

Hi

I picked my Scout up last friday and have LED DRLs. As soon as you turn on the ignition they are on and go out as soon as you put on your headlights. I also have the xenons which are excellent.

Thanks for replying so quickly! Sounded like the dealer/Skoda didn't really know so I'm grateful for the confirmation.

Yeah they are talking rubbish. When my Scout arrived at the Dealers the LED's would not work. Dealer activated them for me for pickup. That was 2 months ago !!

Operation are as Gaz has stated.

 How miffed would you be if after specifying and paying for an option you were later told it won't work!

To be fair, they are right in a sense - but only for the non Scout and vRS Octavia's.

Car's are leaving the factory as we speak with DRL's fitted but not activated. This is in anticipation of their compulsary fitting next year.

Several members on here have had them activated by their dealer so the capability to do so is already available.

You'll love your Scout - its such a well rounded car and has never failed to meet and exceed my expectations in my first year of ownership.

What colour are you thinking off? If its black make sure you add the Polished Proteus Alloys too - drool!

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the dealers are not up to speed in my neck of the woods. Thinking Anthracite with polished proteus. Can any of you who have replied to this thread help with my octavia bluetooth/iphone compatibility query which i posted separately?

Tanks in anticipation

Is it possible to turn off the DRL's in Maxidot too?

Yes

Any pictures of the LED DRLs?

Do they replace the front fog lights?

Steve

Yes, they use the same apertures as the front fogs so you can't have DRL's and fogs on the Scout.

Thanks.

Well there's an option box that now doesn't need ticking!

Steve

The £230 option for LED DRL's is only available for a limited time.

A bit of a cheek too when you consider that they come as part of a package including auto lights and the dimming rear view mirror which are already standard on the Scout. A lot of money for 8 LED's and the loss of the front fogs!

In a few months (April I think) DRL's will become mandatory for all new cars so you may find this option will become standard.

If you haven't yet ordered your Scout you might not have any choice if it is manufactured after this date, although if they are still offering them as an option then you might be OK.

A shame really, athough I rarely use my front fogs they have been useful on the odd occasion, seems daft that they'll no longer be available on the Scout...
