Looking for a pair of rear VRS brake calipers. Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

The rear brake calipers of my mk1 Octavia VRS have corroded to the extent that my handbrake does not function properly. I need to get them replaced. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I might get some replacements at a reasonable price? I am in Dublin so I would probably looking at shipping from the UK I guess.

Thanks

Have a look in the for sale section there are a couple of cars being broken for spares.

I got a new one (reconditioned unit) from here: http://www.brakesint.co.uk/

Thanks Bodge. I had a look at this site. Looks good. They have a few options and I'm a bit confused as to which are the correct ones. I guess I can give them a call. Can you tell me if the ones you bought are green? Do they look the same as the originals?

I'm a real novice, sorry.

Just make sure you get the ones for vented rear disc and not solid as the VRS uses vented discs on the back. I bought some through one of our suppliers at work. They were OE but were from TRW and not Skoda. Saved me a fortune. They came already green.

Vented, I'll be sure to check that. Thanks Dan.

Yes they come green, and are totally identical to the originals. They will have just been reconditioned by Budweg.

Part numbers on that website are BCA9484 for the left and BCA9485 for the right rear vRS brake calipers.

You can have them in Golf GTi Anniversary red, Golf R32 blue or TT 225 silver if you like too! All the same caliper.

You'll find a shed load of info for the rear brakes in my thread here: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/135753-rear-caliper-refurb/page__p__1699903__hl__rear%20caliper%20refurb__fromsearch__1entry1699903

Your link was useful for a bit of background Bodge, cheers. I also have that noise when reversing so maybe I'll kill two birds. I gave the company a call but unfortunately they only have the right one. The left has been on back order for ages and they don't expect to be getting it in. I'll have to do some more searching.

Anyone know of any other sites?
