MK4 Ibiza TDI 100PD - Dual Mass Flywheel?

Featured Replies

I've been having problems with my car for some 8 weeks now and it's in the dealers as we speak. My question is; Does this model have the 'Dual Mass Flywheel'? Can any techies help on this? Some of the symptons I'm reading on this and Seat forums point towards the DMF I beleive.

Can't help I'm afraid, but what are the symptoms as I have the same engine in my Fabia that's still on its first clutch after 70k miles.....?

Just thought I would update. Here's the 'war and piece' After 2 new gearboxes, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and release bearing, I still have a noise that sounds like a release bearing at idle. This disappears when clutch depressed. Seat Uk tech came out to inspect the car after the second gearbox and me taking it out the hands of a particular dealer and taking it to another well respected dealer. Seat Uk told dealer to take the gearbox out again and do some checks. Um what checks - never realy told me!! Anyway whilst the gearbox was out they noticed a worn gearbox mounting, so changed that and also changed the gearbox oil. Why they did this I don't know as it was a brand new box, which is filled at factory. Anyway phoned a couple of days ago and got this update from the dealer - " The car is fixed and is noticeabley quieter than when I test test drove it Sir" But is it fixed i.e no noise? " Well it is alot quieter and there isn't anymore we feel that we can do sir, that hasn't already been done" So i spoke with Seat Uk. This was their reply exactly as per Master Tech, but with a " well its the characteristic of that model" which I replied. "I've checked three others and there's no noise". "But is is 2 years old Sir" was thier reply. Pardon me for being an engineer, but there's a brand new gearbox and clutch assembly in there - so your comment has to substance. I'm at my wits end - yes it is slightly quieter, but it is still there. I've never come across this in all my 23 years of driving. What should I do next - I don't want to reject the car as the Sales Manager has been really accomodating with free cars etc during the 10 weeks I've owned the car. The car apart from this noise is fantastic.
