VRS Dogbone mount bushings

Featured Replies

One of the very first mods i did nearly 3 years ago was to replace the dogbone mount bush. I used a powerflex one and noticed a marked improvement.

same as this one.

Recently pulling away from stand still and reversing i am using slightly more revs and getting more vibration. I bring this down to more engine / gearbox movement.

Now could this be that bush is now getting tired or the front dogbone bush(that I did not replace ) starting to wear.

Any thoughts folks?

I may do a complete overhaul and swap the pair of bushes for something else. Again suggestions please..

Have most folks replaced both mount to chassis and mount to gearbox bush on the dogbone?

hi Mark,

i think most just change the back main bush when doing as the front is a pain to get out.

I have used powerflex which i did not like so changed to superpro, i also when fitting all my tt bits decided to fit the front bush insert, the advantages of this is not having to remove the bush (which is a pain) and offers less vibration as a result. The guy i dealt with at pirracing suggested this was a good option as fully uprated front and rear DB bushes are a bit much.

If the rear was changed a while ago, could indicate the front is going as this will naturally be under more stress.

Front insert is nice and cheap and nice and easy to fit, it literally sandwiches the oe mount, and has made a noticeable difference.

Hi buddy, now that sounds interesting, will give pirracing a bell, used them before.

The dogbone bush is the last powerflex bush on the car as i have since replaced with other makes(don't like powerflex)

also think it may be time to replace the gearbox mount as engine mount was done with cambelt change.

cheers

Mark.
