I've heard that Skoda now offer variable servicing, but to be honest I'm not sure what it means.

Could someone tell me what the "traditional" service intervals are for a Superb with the TDI CR 170 engine, and also how the variable servicing works...?

It's 2 years, 20K or when the car display tells you as afar as I know

Variable servicing has been offered for at least 10 years now on some Skoda models.

"On variable servicing, intervals are determined by driving styles and conditions of use. The on-board computer will indicate when a service is required which could be up to approx. 20,000 miles for petrol engines, 30,000 miles for 4 cylinder diesel and 24,000 miles for V6 diesel"

The car will be (unless the dealer changes it) set up for variable servicing from the factory, I think Skoda however are getting miles and KMs mixed up from the above quote mind! 18,000 miles is easily achievable with normal use (less if you do a lot of short journeys) whereas the 'time and distance' is every 12 months or 10,000 miles.

Thanks for the quick replies. The variable servicing sounds right for my style of driving (an 80 mile round trip commute of mostly motorway driving). My Saab TiD is 18,000 / 2 years which is ideal.
