1.9 or 2.0 Tdi ?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

We're looking to replace my wife's VW Golf with an 09 or 59 Octy. We already have an '06 Octy 4 x 4 1.9Tdi estate, so I know that the 105bhp engine is a good, flexible unit - it's had a Shark stage 1 re-map to give it a tad more oomph , but this was more for fun than necessity.

So, what are the pros and cons of the 138bhp 2.0 engine compared with the 1.9?

What do folk think?

Cheers

Ian

I Have driven the 1.9 pd unit in some of our other fleet cars, but always enjoy getting back in my own 2.0 pd, lots more power and it feels alot more flexible to drive, mine the facellift 10 plate, and must have been one of the last pd units sold, i will be ordering a 2.0 next time for sure.

Im also looking forward to getting it upto 60,000 so i can have it re-mapped, can never have too much power.

The 2.0 in the 4x4 has a DPF, it feels a bit laggy but the car is mapped as stock to slowly add fuel when you accelerate to save the DPF & will feel as though the turbo is laggy if driven in a very spirited manner, theres a slight flat spot every time you change gear & slam the pedal down. It also runs slightly smaller Injectors, again to slow the fuel intake & save the dpf. Still a fine car but there are work rounds to get rid if the DPF if you feel so inclined. I belive most of the other 2.0 are DPF free but check before buying if it concerns you

Thanks for the comments guys,

I seem to see quite a few comments about Dual Mass Flywheels on the threads - is this a common problem?

cheers

Ian

We have a 1.9 tdi Fabia 3 (105) and a 2.0 tdi Octavia (140), I'd say the 2.0 engine obviously has more power but it's also noticablly smoother and more refined.
