Can't get aftermarket headunit out

Featured Replies

Hello bought a fabia vrs without standard head unit? I have what I assume are the removal keys but can't get it out I've tried putting the realese keys in at either side but nothing it's jammed in tight :(

What stereo is it?

Sometimes the release keys don't release the side catches very well (if your stereo has these). Is there any access to get your hand behind it? (behind trim, removing ashtray, din blanking plate, etc)Some stereos are secured to the back of the space by a bolt at the back in the middle. In most cases this is not used as a determined scrote is not bothered about wrecking your dash with a screwdriver to get the stereo out, and a new dash is not a cheap thing. If not, see if you can push it towards you from the back (with the release keys in if it needs the catches undoing). It could just be a tight fit.

Also check online for the installation manual, it will tell you if it has catches on the side and the proper way of inserting/removing the stereo.

Dont mean to insult but are you sure your putting the release key in the right way round. I have one set that can be used on three different release types by using either end and turning one end from outside to in,
