Columbus retrofit in Octavia 2007

Featured Replies

Hi

I am a total Briskoda newbie..so please be patient !

Will try and be brief...

Have retro fitted a Columbus MFD3 into my Octavia VRS 2007...unit up and running just fine...however..

model: 3T0 035 680

1. Battery drained out today (maybe because I was loading up all my music onto the HDD without engine running), but regardless of that...will battery drain only occur when car is switched off ?

2. On initial instalation, 3 dash lights came on, steering wheel (air bag), tyre pressure and ESP... now these lights went out the other day and all was fine, but now with the battery draining out they have all come back on again !

3. How do you check to see what software is loaded onto the Columbus ?

I am begining to understand that my car may need an unrated CAN Gateway to prevent the battery drain.

Also will a VAGCOM be required to assess my current Can ?

My final question is, are there any members out there that can do this work / job...ie replace Can gateway as my knowledge on these cars is rather limited.

Many thanks in advance

Neil

Have a look in the vagcom section and the sticky members map.

The battery drain issue will need a new CAN board to solve.

Thanks Go Gadget..

Will look out someone localish on the VAGCOM list..

Would the new Can Board be from Skoda direct or can my current one be upgraded ?

Also how do I know which Can Board to order ?

Cheers

Neil

Have to ask again...

is there any way / buttons to press etc on the Columbus that will show me what software is loaded onto it ?

also if I have to replace the Can Gateway / board, is there just one unit I have to buy, or are there many choices for the Octavia II ?

Cheers

Neil
