Rover 400 Advice Please

Featured Replies

My daughter is having trouble starting her S reg Rover 400 (1.4 K Series engine) on damp mornings since she hit a massive puddle in a deluge a couple of weeks ago that stopped the engine.

A neighbour has helped her out by spraying WD40 on "something".

I am going over at the weekend to see if I can sort it out. My first thought is water left somewhere or a cracked distributor cap or damaged HT lead - does a 1998 1.4 K series engine have a distributor cap and HT leads?

Also since the demise of Rover where do you get bits from? For ignition bits my first stop would be SAS in Otley. Anyone know any other sources in Guiseley or (preferably) Rothwell areas of Leeds?

have a look on rovertech mate you will find all you need and yes they do have a cap and leads

High revs, slow speed

Sounds to me for it to stop the engine, that mr air intake and mr puddle had a bit of a meeting, but something liek that normally scraps an engine, it could have simply shorted something out or corroded a connector.

I bought an MG ZR from some plonker who jetwashed the engine bay... IDIOT! luckily only the spark plug holes got filled with water and no electrics damaged.

Thanks for the answers. Problem seems to have gone away itself so was probably just water on the ignition components.
