1st Service

Featured Replies

Just booked my first service in with the dealer and the caris on fixed servicing. going to cost £130 which is cheaper than the next closest dealer who wants £150. They are letting me take my own oil and will deduct the oil from the bill (£70.00!!). going to get it from Halfords at only £49.00 with a free umbrella!). This brings the first service price at the dealer down to £60.00. Im very happy with this, not sure how it compares to others though?

£120 for my local Skoda dealer in south london.

If you don't mind me asking, who were the two dealers?

Mine is also due it's first service in Dec so I'm interested to hear how you get on.

Griffin mill in cardiff were the most expensive, sinclair in swansea were the most competitive. Will let you know how it goes, going to have some bits and bobs checked out during the service too.

Oh, yes please. I bought mine from Sinclair's in Swansea, although my closest dealer is in Haverfordwest. If you're impressed then that will probably seal it for me taking it back for them to service.

Sinclairs were excellent when I bought the car off them - they'll be my first choice for servicing even if it means a drive.

Christ, mine had a service 2 weeks ago today, and it cost me £171!!! That and the fact the car hasn't been on the road since due to them buggering something up with the air mass meter/ECU has got me slightly worried about the competence of my dealer(also VW main dealer) :'(

You should try and book the car in as a vw golf - you get servicing done on them per year for £88! That is if you pay for 3 now.

Autoexpress did a story VW was right there. No mention of Skoda etc!

car went in this morning and i must be honest and say that they did a fantastic job. I cant recomend them more. Didnt take long to do and they looked at one or two warranty issues aswell. Car came back cleaned and the air freshened inside. Book stamped, service checksheet given as well.

Only thing is now ( which isnt the dealers fault!) is that i need two new front tyres!!! They also noted that one of my rear tyres was mishaped and it was common with the VRS for this to happen? Its not covered under warranty and im told it isnt a big problem but could cause a bit of droning at speed.

Well dome Sinclair Skoda! :D

Glad it went well Rob.

Did they service while you wait, or did you get a courtesy car?

Was I just lucky to get 3 years free servicing? It was only 2009.

I've done over 8000 miles now!

They gave me two options, one to leave it with them or the other to wait. If you leave it with them i think you just take it in first thing and then they fit it into the workshop schedule. If you want to wait then you have a dedicated spot. I had a dedicated spot but decided not to wait for it. I should have though as it only took just over and hour and a half. I didnt ask for a courtesy car. I would have though if it was a fabia VRS! they looked lovely!

Anything free in my book is fgood. Do you still take it in every year for its service at such a small mileage? i guess you need to if you wnat to keep any warranty intact?
