AP vs Weitec: Ride Quality Differences

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm getting coilovers very soon...in fact I was hoping to order them today or tomorrow. I've been in a car with the AP setup, and in terms of ride quality and comfort, it is spot-on for me. However, the galvanized tubes of the Weitec kit appeal to me, especially with road salt season being not far away!

I was wondering if the APs and Weitecs are comparable in ride quality and comfort. If the Weitecs are as compliant as the APs, I could stretch to them.

Opinions please!

Thanks,

Andrew :)

ive no experience of the AP's comfort wise, but when i was looking for coilies i was after the most comfortable possible on my budget and of the 2 mentioned i was told weitec was the kit to go for [by damian @ dp] and so i did emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I have also been told this Mark, and was recommended to go for the Weitecs by a friend who has had experiance of these and heard nothing but good reviews, as well as the sales person i spoke with through Awsome GTI. He had also run these and said they where the better one as they are made with slightly better components i am lead to believe. I get hte impression that the AP's do go slightly lower, but mine are all the way down on the back and i can just get a finger inbetween the arch and the wheel, and this is still with the adjuster cups in, so if these are removed they could go down further. As for comfort, i am quite impressed, as they are better than my standard shocks and apex 40mm springs, and quite comfortable on longer motorway journeys too. At the end of it all, it comes down to budget, and for an extra £15 per corner, based on Awesome GTI prices, its not alot extra. Awesome also had a £25 cash back offer on these when i purchased which may still be running...

Cheers, Elliott

Sod it, the Weitecs do stretch my budget a tad, and I've sourced the APs from Damian at DPM, plus nearby fitting, new top mounts and new, slightly shorter drop links, grand total just a shade over £500.

Thanks for your input though :)

The Weitec's are the better quality kit and you can tell the difference in the ride but the AP's are still a very good option.

The coilover sleves are now available but we're just waiting for a price from KW on them.
