teething trouble - new skoda octavia owner

Featured Replies

hi,

I just bought a Skoda octavia estate 1.9 TDI manual 07 with 64k on clock.Have been perusing this forum before buying to convice myself Octavia is the right choice..

Driving home I faced 2 issues..

1> The remote key works to Lock it but not unlock on reading the maual ,I did try to Synch it again but still can not open by remote and have to use physical key.Did not notice it earlier before taking delivery so what could be wrong.

2> The car is very smooth, mint condition with Full Skoda service history and brand new MOT ...However while I was stuck in Traffic Jam it cut out and when i took out the key and restarted it was back to business.I have driven Petrol for last 20 years so is it my driving style or there could be some problem..

after reading various posts it tells me it could be MAF but in most of those cases it happened 'high speed not when the car was doing 5 MPH

Any advice welcome...( the seller is 200 miles away and if it is minor would rather sort it on my own)

The slow speed cut out might be a camshaft sensor thingy, happened with ever increasing frequency on my 03 Octy at around 60k. The higher speed cutout (had that too on my first Octy) was Relay 109, a plug-in under the dash.

Thanks, can someone elaborate on Camshaft sensor as it is definitely @low speed only so far... :D

Was it a dealer car or a private sale?

Don't trade sales have to carry at least a 3 month warranty?

yeah I meant RAC extended warranty as he has said he will sort the cut out issue...just dont want to travel to get it sorted so want to ascertain if it is minor or I need to btravel 200 miles but have to say that never imagined diesel car would be so smooth..

Planning to change cr032 battery on the FOB and hopefully that will sort it
