Aah! She's here at last!

Well, after a bit of a fumble from the Dealer-

Salesman: Delivery Friday, no problem!

Car preparers: Friday?? Forget it, Tuesday at the earliest! (Crisis? What crisis?)

Garage: So sorry Mr. Maxbert, Friday it is after all!

I have taken delivery of my Superb Combi Elegance 170 DSG and it's GREAT! Amazonian Green paintwork is also v. good- It needs the sun to shine on it to bring out its best, but it's not a bad colour at all, varying from almost black to almost British Racing Green depending on the lighting. I like it, and it works brilliantly with the beige interior.

DSG gearbox- My first automatic, so I'm still getting used to it, that and the fact that one has to take it a little easy from new. On the whole, I'm impressed, although the automatic hunt for fuel economy is disconcering when you find yourself at 60 Kph in sixth gear. First long(ish) run today as we went to my in-laws 130 Km away. I drove on the way out, Mrs. Maxbert drove back. I decided to be chauffeured, so tried the back seat on the way back. The car is huge! Extremely comfortable in the back too (my kids love the heated rear seats (option)! Noisier than in the front, though.

My iPhone (3G) paired with no fuss whatsoever, I winged it with no instruction manual- It even imported all my contacts automatically, so the latest version seems sorted! Happiness!

Give me a few days / weeks and I'll start reporting my gripes, but so far none!

BTW VERY impressed with the Dealer for a number of reasons, including excellent, honest advice (avoid the automatic parking thing, it's cheap but it needs 6 metres (!) of space for it to work, 110 PS is fine for Mrs. Maxbert's Yeti, you don't need the 140 PS, 4WD variant, honestly). A very good experience!

It's nighttime now!

Wilco as soon as the greyness lifts and the sun's out, and it's had its first wash- Stay tuned!

Happy new car...

Can I just confirm though, that you have an iPhone 3G (as in, not a 3GS or 4) and that it pairs quite happily with your new Superb...? I was of the impression the 3G wouldn't work.

Have fun, and enjoy!

I just got my car too, and I can confirm, to my surprise, that it paired my iPhone 3G perfectly, downloaded contact's etc. :)

Hmm, sounds like the Columbus or the bluetooth module has been updated then... and here was me using the Superb as an excuse to get an iPhone4 B)

Are you shure that you have the GSM III module installed in your car? I have read somwhere that the swedish cars are fitted with the GSM II module that works with almost every phone.

Correct, Bluetooth II module, not Bluetooth III. Phone is a boggo G3, no S to it.

Reading this, I can't wait for December 17th when mine is due to arrive, very jealous!!!

Ah, so this could be a spec issue... as in the UK cars may not actually work with the 3G afterall... oh well, back to using it as an excuse to get an iPhone4 :giggle:
