Does Columbus Have a Code?

Featured Replies

Just picked up new Superb and have seen instructions for entering a code if the Columbus unit if the car has had the battery disconeected etc.

I've not a PIN Code in the docs, so I called dealer who tells me I'm not supposeed to get one? Is this BS and what if I do disconnect battery? (i.e. Sub to run power for)

You don't get a code anymore, its done at the dealer and shouldn't be needed as the ecu keeps it stored.

The code, on a fob, is your immobiliser code.

The immobilizer codes arent given out and havent been for sometime, since seven pin codes came out anyhow.

The number on the fob may be a key number, quite often have the last 8 or so of the chassis number on them.

As said you wont need the code even if the radio is removed, as long as it goes back int he same car, switch the iginition on and it will recode so its not BS.

Thanks for the replies guys' I was thinking my columbus was going to be a brick when I pop the battery terminals off the battery

The main trick is to turn on the car, and if it shows code do nothing. After approx 30 secs the ECU will pump the code to the radio and wake it up. Most members have issues when they start pressing buttons and trying to enter a code.
