bye bye superb

Featured Replies

after 18 months i have to say good bye to my 2.0 tdi 140 bss engine elegance 55 plate, i know the oil pump is an issue but for a car to have so many other flaws not good VW not good. maybe i had a lemon but as i loved this car i put up with it . just seems so many design faults with this car i just think what could have been. dealers not too helpful either . anyway with some persuasion from the wife Hyundai have my money now 5 yr warranty (don't let me down dealers) and cheap price (pre reg) seemed a good deal, at the mo very happy with the car i hope you all have better luck. Just watch out for that warranty - you may be surprised that even things which any sane mind would think are included in the warranty actually aren't!

been told all covered except usual tyres, brake pads/discs etc even told me if any bulbs or my wipers go in first 2yrs will replace f.o.c. i suppose only time will tell. looked on the the review sites ie auto express what car all seem to think warranty is good.

Sorry to hear that you have parted with your elegance superb and now have a hyundai..i hope the car lives up to its promise, especially with the warranty side of things....seems a shame to abandon the superb elegance, as i think it is a luxurious piece of kit, with albeit a few problems...if that had been me, i personally would have talked my wife into getting the oil pump replaced regardless, as the cost of replacement including labour would give you back the superb in full running condition. Of course one wouldnt know when the oil pump would fail...or even if it would fail, but the size of the car coupled with the luxury interior, in my opinion would have been worth keeping....but thats just me saying that.

If one adressed all the issues with the superb, and even purchased a decent warranty, then i think that would have given someone a few years of trouble free years driving, in a car thats basically fully loaded...and looks the business.

What hyundai model did you get in the end?
