Featured Replies

my new scout was built week 44 and is now at emden awaiting shipping dealer tells me not to get too excited until the weekend of 27 28th november was anyone else given week 44 as a build if so when has dealer told you to expect your car.

also spoke to the dealer and he asures me that because my heated seats were orded as a seperate option to the leather they will be on the car ( I hope so)

My L&K was also built week 44. My dealer has said 2 weeks to reach the UK. I understand its then another week for delivery to dealer and PDI so that would be about the same time that you have been told. we can always hope its sooner!!

Yes delivery sounds about right. Regarding heated seats yes had the whole heated seats drama also and I got them although a couple of others in the dealer were not so lucky. Thankfully my sales person followed the instructions and ordered them seperately and sounds like yours has also. The order process has now changed due to the amount of errors. being made I assume.

Mine was built in week 44. Dealer indicates end of month/start Dec. I am not bothered now as I have decided to take it on 3 Jan 2011 so it is reg 2011. (it was ordered June 26).

If week 44 was last week, then mine is built as well and waiting for shipment :)

What is the thing in the UK about 10 plates or 11 plates? How does this matter? I'm from Norway and don't understand this. Our plates are no different from one year to another...

Nothing to do with the plate. I just want it in January 2011 and not in December 2010. Plates don't change till March anyhow.

It is just a UK DVLA (Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency) anarchism. We must be the only country in the world that gets excited every six months about a change in vehicle registration coding.

Why a sane person would perceive that a vehicle registered in the last week of February has an inherently lower value than a vehicle registered in the first week of March (same again August / September) is beyond me. I kid not that some dealerships run late night events so that those so inclined can collect their cars and drive off the premises at 00:01 to be the first on the road with the new registration code. I don't think this happens so much now the coding change is six monthly rather than annually.

It would be interesting to hear the perception from any of the guys working in UK dealerships on here, they may see it as a good marketing tool. Personally I would be more concerned with manufacturer model year and absolute age rather than the arbitary registration coding; but heh, nobody I know considers me normal :nerd:.

Best regards

David

When I eventually sell my Scout I will sell it as a 2011 model even though it is first registered in 2010. Lots of people do this in Norway...

[heard from the dealer this morning that my new scout (build week 44) arived at grimsby on thursday night so after 4 and a half weeks at emden should be with me before next week end (dec 4th) fingers crossed

Mine was build week 44, according to the dealer it was on the ship, so expecting to get my hands in my new car within in the next 10 days tops!!!

My petrol vRS was built either week 44 or 45 and picking up tomorrow (29/11), can't believe the weather I'm going to have to pick it up in, loads of snow, excited, but at the same time nervous about having to run it around in the snow.. :dull:
