VAG COM

Featured Replies

Is there anyone out there in Cumbria (more specifically Carlisle area) that can read the fault codes on my Superb 1.9TDi 130. I get it serviced at a small local garage and he doesn't have the gear. :(

I assume that the service indicator can also be switched off with the software or can it be done by pressing some buttons in sequence on the dash itself?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I've read rumours about being able to reset service indicator with a magical button sequence. But i dont think it works on the superb. Hooking upto VAG=COM is the only way.

It does work in the Superb I believe (the details are in the handbook) but only if the car is on fixed (10K) service intervals.

If the car is on variable servicing, yoiu can reset the service indicator as detailed in the manual, it then reverts to fixed time servicing. I prefer that anyhow. IMHO - No car should go more than 10k miles or 1 year anyway without an oil change and a general check on overall condition.

Thanks very much, will check the manual for the 'magical button sequence' and give it a bash. Like you Fred Bloggs I never normally run more than 6 months between oil changes but I suppose I'm still thinking along the lines of the old mineral oils. I believe you can get a bit longer with fully synthetic.

While I'm on is the air filter easy to do, it looks a bit of a pain. I have the car a year now and haven't done it

The air filter is a piece of cake to change, Skoda recommend something ridicules like 40K between changes, this IMO is far too long so I used to do it every (variable) service.

Whilst you are changing the filter it is worth noting that the air intake pipe that pushed onto the air filter housing is a bit of a pi55 fit and it can suck in air easily (causing an awful induction noise) so I put a thin bead of silicone sealant around the inside to seal it up.
