Flashing glow plug light

Featured Replies

Was on for ten mins stopped engine off then back on flashing got wife not check brake lights all working.

Pressed brake pedal without the engine on and then started and it went off, guess it's the brake pedal switch ? Or could it be something more sinister like the maf sensor ?

When the lights are flashing , check the brake lights

i would not look any further until you check that

A diagnostic check will save you spending on stuff you dont need

Or wait til it comes on as I said and check the brake lights then ;)

Sorry - but I'm confused here re the connection between the glow plug light and the brake pedal. From the manual:

There is a fault in the glow plug system if the indicator light ï¤ does not come on

at all or lights up continuously. Contact a specialist garage as soon as possible to

obtain professional assistance.

There is a system fault in the engine control system if the warning light ï¤ has

started to flash while driving. The engine management system selects an emergency

programme which enables you to drive to the nearest specialist garage by

adopting a gentle style of driving.

If a bulb has gone the bulb warning light comes on - not the glow plug one...

Corrigendum - I stand corrected - yet another confusing inter-reaction between systems - why is this car so perverse at times?

If all your brake lights are working.......This is sometimes caused by the plunger in the brake light switch "sticking".... Especially if you have "let go" the brake pedal pretty quickly back into the "off" position.... It is situated behind the brake pedal arm, (under your foot), and when it happens you may be able to just "fiddle around" to release it back to it`s normal position... and then it should not flash any more.. (until the next time ! ! )...

No, when the brake light switch under the pedal fails the glow plug light comes on.

Theres a few threads on this I seen one you'd posted on Sarah :) it was flashing when I was in the car alone at first as soon as my wife got in it stopped. I'll get my lights checked next time it's flashing .

Yes , I must admit when mine went , it was in the dark , and you can tell then LOL

But if it does go and you can tell , if you pull up switch engine off , then it may reset again , like it has now

But get it done asap when you find out

Not expensive for them , in fact IIFC I have a spare one back oop north

But 144 miles away :( sorry

My son has a Fabia too , one of the first things I bought him

I got him a CTS for his mk4 Golf GTi , I come in handy at times :D
