Hi guys,

I'm new on this forum, noticed the other days when I was looking for gearbox oil.

Also I have a problem with my car, it is the gearbox, and wanted to ask you if you know if it matches the gearbox from a petrol engine to one with a diesel engine?

It's for an Octavia 4x4, the one with 6 speeds.

Tomorrow I'm going to buy it and it would be great if I'd have some answers.

I'd be very surprised if petrol and diesel gearboxes could be swapped due to the different ratios. Then again, if the only difference is in the final drive, then maybe you could? Someone on here will know for sure...

Regarding the gearbox I bought one from a diesel car, it seems that it works from petrol engines too, but it is not good for the engine, and on Thursday I'm going to make the swap.

Hi guys,

I've managed to repair my car, it seems that the gearbox that I've bought didn't match, was not the same like mine after all.

But the good thing is that I found out what was the problem, it seems that a bearing inside my gearbox, it is a final bearing, started to eat around its place therefor from the gearbox housing, so I've repaired it by boring that place and using a bush, now it's working great, I hope that I'm not going to have any more troubles with it.
