Came across 2 interesting cars today......
Many years ago my mate had one... Along with a hearse to transport his drum kit in. These days I still like the GTE and the guy across the road from us has a Mk1 on his driveway he started restoring many years ago but I think he's given up these days

the truth about electric cars
Try playing rainbow cars... A bit like car snooker but colours of the rainbow... It's more difficult than you would think and the orange and purple (pseudo indigo and violet) are buggers to find

VCDS options on Kodiaq I. FL
Jeez... Why so much arguing over stop start... And why so much concern about turning it off... It's not particularly intrusive or damaging.

Skoda want my Kodiaq for 3 months to fix it !!
I beleive many of the issues VWG have in terms of software is because they decided in their wisdom to bring the software development for their vehicles in-house a few years ago, rather than continuing to use external specialist suppliers. They set up a whe new team in 2020 that were probably OK in terms of software but weren't experienced in terms of automotive software. That has been coming home to roost in recent vehicles across the VW group. https://cariad.technology/de/en/company.html https://germanautopreneur.com/p/cariad-volkswagen-software-failure-lessons Things seem to be Improving but it's slow going and it seems they would have been better sticking with the original knowledgeable suppliers.1

Pirelli Cinturato SF3 215/55/ R17
As an aside, if it were me, I'd go Cross Climate, Vector 4 seasons, or possibly Vredestein Quatrac.

This thread really is getting rather silly. I seriously doubt @ZJZ you will be able to tell or discern any difference between the higher load rated tyres and the lower load rated ones. If you can then the higher ones will be slightly stiffer and might have better steering feel. As a reference I have higher load rated tyres on both my Suzuki swift (Falken zeix 310), my Kodiaq (Falken Azenis FK510) and also had them on my Octavia 4x4 (Vredestien Sportrac and then Michelin Cross Climate) and they have all been excellent with no detrimental issues. Just buy what you think are the best balance of performance characteristics for you and don't worry about the load rating - the latter will make bugger all difference for 99.9% of your driving so isnt worth getting stressed about.

What rim would you choose?
Personally I think black wheels look awful but each to thier own

Cambelt replacement schedule?
If you look in the sticky posts in the Kodiaq section you should be able to find the official Skoda maintenance workshop manuals... It'll say in there Here you go... Just select the ones you want... There's one in there for the diesel engine. https://www.briskoda.net/forums/files/file/47-skoda-kodiaq-workshop-manuals/?&do=download

Thinking about buying an ex demonstrator, diesel, 60,000 miles, DSG and 4x4, what should I be looking out for, i.e, cambelt
Good stuff and fingers crossed for you Graham. I'm guessing it's the petrol blue Edition with cream interior on auto trader in which case it looks very tidy.

I'm pretty sure that the non face-lift Mk1s in the UK had led lights apart from the SE (which I have but even then proper alignment and decent bulbs make them much better).

New car time!
Silly question but did it flip to KPH rather than MPH?

Bonnet release lever falls off
Just buy a new lever... The clip will come with it. But bear in mind it might not be the clip that is the issue. On ours then end of the spindle broke off meaning the clip had nothing to fasten to so it was the mechanism behind the handle that needed replacing.

As per the above - brakes, tyres, and Haldex would be my favourites alongside general condition / servicing. I'd not be bothered in the slightest about where it was serviced (I actually prefer local indie specialists over dealers). Also check the coolant header tank - I think you should be OK in that respect (no silica bag) but worth checking for the 'mit silikat' label and an signs of discolouration and that the A/C blows cold (I've just had to have our 2018 Kodiaq recharged for the first time as it wasn't) Other than that it's always worth checking if there are any 'optional extras' on it - we identified a few on ours which were 'nice to have's' an swung it for us.
