octy vibration/shaking

Featured Replies

hello everyone, need some help pls..my mk1 is having vibration and shaking whenever it picks up speed then when its fast enough, the shaking is gone..any help and ideas much appreciated..

Wheel balance? Have you lost a balancing weight in the cold weather?

ice on wheels?

I've always found that vibration during acceleration is due to a front wheel being out of balance. When you accelerate, weight is lifted off the front, allowing them to vibrate more noticeably.

Some garages will check the balance for free and only charge you if it needs correcting. It always seems to be my near-side front wheel that gets bashed - presumably because there are a lot of country lanes around here and when I meet somebody head on, that's always the first wheel to find the potholes down the edge of the road.

thanks for that guys..but let me explain further lets say im on fifth gear running at about 50 mph and i had to slow down so went down to about 40mph then when i accelerate on the same gear, its shaking or vibrating a bit while it picks up speed and shaking is gone when its already fast enough, happens even in flat surfaces..thanks once again..

Is it the steering that's vibrating, or the car / engine.

Just thinking maybe soggy dogbone bush.
