Should Tyres Be An Option When Buying

Featured Replies

I shall look into supplying all season tyres on new Yetis next year, might be usefull!

Might make some money too - the Nokian eNTYREs are quite a bit cheaper than the OE Dunlops! So far, very pleased with the Nokians - very reassuring in the snow and slush and little perceptible difference for normal and motorway driving.

Hi again Del,

same thing 'again' with the wife's Fabia front wheels stuck in a rut :S, she tried turning the TCS off and fitting snow socks but unable to move that didn't work. The plastic snow shovel she had wouldn't break the ice, so I had a 2.5 + hour round trip to go help her get out with a steel shovel. Her Christmas present :giggle: of 4 nice new winter tyres on rims from mytyres are currently still lagishing in a German parcel depot on the Rhine last we knew :(

Parallel lives again Tim ........ my Dunlops (from reifen.com) are with DPD in Melle, Germany awaiting consolidation for freighting to the UK .....

P.S. I'm surprised the snow socks didn't help get 'Mrs P' moving ...

Hi Del,

problem with the socks is that you need to move slightly forward or backward to put them on fully. With the Fabia it literally was stuck to the spot; car had been parked up by my wife at work and I presume the warm tyres had melted into the ice slightly. Come going home time she tries to reverse out of the bay and the front wheels spin, digging further into the ice :S leaving her stranded :(

Anyway some improving news regard her Christmas present :giggle: there now in the West Midlands at Oldbury :)

Regards,

TP

Johan - For those that do not want to have different sets of tyres, and I think that is the bulk of the population, then going for the All Seasons are a good compromise. For those who are happy to carry both sets then in the UK summer and winter tyres are the best bet, no doubt.

I agree. For the majority of Yeti buyer, in UK at any rate, 'All Season' tyres will be a good compromise as OE fitment.

When I was discussing tyres with my dealer a few weeks ago he told me that all Yetis are being delivered with 'all season' tyres. I took this statement with a pinch of salt as I felt he was referring to 'summer' tyres that some feel are 'all season' and not proper 'All Season' tyres. I have since bought a set of 225/50 17 Winter tyres to put on the OE 17" Sptizbergs.

Kevin, my Yeti, is due in a week or two so we'll find out, on delivery, who was correct.
