Hello all and Happy New Year to all the Skoda Drivers out there. I've had a problem with my Octavia. When I indicate to go right the light will flash and then start indicating to the left. It works fine if I just nudge it to the 3 flash indicate (If you know what I mean) when it pops to the left light I normally just push the indicator stick a little and then it goes to the right light again. Any ideas or fixes that anyone can let me know about.

I've heard this problem a few times.

Turned out to be a faulty indicator stalk.

Quick dealer fix if under warranty or an easy and cheap DIY if not

Thanks for that advice. Do you have any videos or instructions how to doing it DIY?

Sorry, I'm not too sure.

There are plenty of threads on here about others who have retrofitted cruise control. This also requires the indicator stalk to be replaced so I reckon there will be some hints and tips on here somewhere...

I had a problem with the indicator stalk. When I indicated right it would show left , it got quite dangerous. Sometimes I had no indicator response at all. I tried pushing to full beam and it alleviated the problem for a short while. 

  After reading a few blogs and starting to think I needed a new stalk ,as a last effort I tried contact spray. This did not work initially so I prised the housing away from under the indicator and sprayed a lot of cleaner up behind the stalk with pure guess work using the spray nozzle tube, I sprayed the front bottom of the stalk getting as much into the gap where it meets the main housing and during this time and waggled the stalk into all different positions as I sprayed quite liberally almost soaking the area in contact cleaner.

 Anyway it has so far cured the problem ( 1 month) . I keep the contact cleaner in the car just in case it needs more.
