Time to move on?

Featured Replies

First things first...this isnt a "For Sale" ***FEELER*** thread. I genuinely just want some help making my mind up and Im hoping you guys and gals can help!

Basically I own 2 Skodas;

2005 55 Skoda Superb Edition 100 1.9tdi and a 2002 52 Skoda Octavia vRS WRC 1.8t number 100/100, the last ever made.

I have owned them for some time, and to be honest they are the best of everything when it comes to the Mk1 Superb and Mk1 Octavia. I love Skodas, and after owning VW's, Audis and Seats I know just how good they are for performance and value.

The thing is, I fancy a change and a recent back injury makes me wonder if I should get a 4x4 as I'm 6'6'' and entering and leaving the car is a little harder than it was. I genuinely dont know if selling would be a mistake though. I cannot find ANYTHING that even comes close to the Superb Edition 100 spec, and the Octavia WRC has to be one of the rarest cars in the UK today (one of a maximum of 23 left on the road!)

So I hope some of you guys can offer words of advice, and make me stick with the Skoda badge, or alternatively make any suggestions of what to go for? Sell one and keep the other?? I dont want to spend more than £6K on my next car.

Are my cars even going to sell in todays economic climate???

On another note, I havent found another amazing car forum like this.....well maybe ukmkivs! (I miss my Golf GTI days! haha).

(Posted this in the Octavia forum too...due to the dual cars involved)

Hoping you can help,

Mike.

Keep the Superb - its resale value is very low and it has the best engine by far, so in fact it's quite useful. It probably also suits your large frame.

Make absolutely sure you fix all the idiot issues on the Superb such as water ingress and pinch bolts, otherwise it will become a money pit.

The Octavia has no rarity value - except in the eyes of the owner. It's basically a high spec model with an undesirable engine at today's fuel prices. Sell it to a mug who will drool over the toys. It would have been easier to sell before fuel prices increased.

I don't think a 4 x 4 will improve your finances these days - or the planet.

rotodiesel.

If you must sell the 100 try a Skoda dealer first, and don't take any silly offer for it, they know it will sell on again quick enough being a limited edition loaded model.

Now, for a replacement, as you are tall and you have the back injury I would say it's gonna be a Volvo S80 or maybe an S60, short of that you need an old 7 Series that comes in budget.
