Matt,

I'm guessing that this bumper removing/fitting fest will require a few photos of the end result

On this issue, does anyone know (or able to work out) if the vRS bumper sticks out a bit further than the std one?

Medium term plan is to fit a vRS rear bumper to my Elegance as I prefer the smoothed look. I think it's 'filled out' a bit more though. So just wondering about exhaust finishing, so that they will sit right in the cutout when I come to swap.

Cheers,

Steve

Looking at a neighbours I 'think' they are the same, I will measure them if I can, my neighbour will think I'm nuts but hey ho!

Steve,

I'm popping upto a friends on the 19th (he has a huge warm dry garage) for the fitting of my bumpers, I can get some measurements and pics then for you  . I dont think the front or back stand out much further (if any) from the ends of the car however the rear is a little more squarer which I wanted as it curves the opposite way to the elegance bumper so will hopefully hide the towbar and electrics a little more.

If you look in the accessories cataloge there is different part numbers for the exhaust tailpipe trims depending on having the sport or normal bumpers fitted, I'm guessing this is down to extra low down lenth of the bumper.

Matthew

Thanks, that would be good

Perhaps I didn't explain it very well. I don't think it sticks out further overall, more that it's 'fuller' throughout it's total height on the car, if that makes sense.

So there's more to it, around the pipes and also as you say, around the towbar area for you.

Spot on comment about the Accessories catalogue items too; I'd noticed there were two versions and my feeling was the same as yours.

The 19th might be a little late, as I'll have my exhaust fitted by then (hopefully!) but it would be good to maybe have measurements and also the difference in how far your std pipes stick out, with the Elegance bumper on and then with the vRS one.

Cheers,

Steve

Steve, my Sport bumpers def sat out further than the Standard bumpers, Im pretty certain the same applies to the VRS bumpers!

I dont think there is alot in it but the vrs certainly has a squarer shape to the bottom

Thanks guys.

Yes, this is the point I think - squarer at the bottom.

Cheers for that mate. Any idea of how much? Say by comparison, of how much further in the std TDI pipes sat, with the Sport bumper fitted?

Surely if its a custom made system they will be able to adjust the tailpipe to suit when you have your vrs bumpers fitted? understandably there is probably a cost involved but it might be better than getting your tailpipes set further out of the bumper before you get your vrs bumpers!

Oh yeah, absolutely. Just wondered about the actual difference, so I could decide which way to do it really :)
